Tappa is a hindi word which means jump or bounce. Tappa is a style of singing which comes from Punjab. It is said that there was a Punjabi shori miyan who lived in the court of Nawab Asifudul of Lucknow invented Tappa.
Tappa is usually sung in raag kafi, jhinjoti, bhairavi, khamaj, etc. tappa has two elements sthaye and antra. Tappa has “Shringar raas” and also Punjabi language words are seen more often this. In tappa taans are sung in a very different style.
